Location of Noakhali town

Noakhali Town(Sadar Upazila) Known as Maijdi which consists 09 Wards and 36 Mohollas. The Total area of Noakhali Town is 12.61 sq KM. The total population of the Town is 74,585, in which 51.50% is male and 48.50% is female. The population density of Noakhali town per sq KM is 5915. Literacy rate in the town people is 60.7%. The former name of the city was Sudharam. In 1984 when the Upazila HQ were extinct by the erosion of Meghna River, It was shifted 8 KM to the North to its present place at maijdi.
